Traveling abroad – type 2 diabetes.

Type 2 diabetes is a lifelong disease that needs to be managed, often with the use of medicines. With this in mind, when planning your holidays please keep three key things in mind:

  1. Take sufficient quantities of medicines and be sure to discuss hoe much should be taken with your specialist diabetes nurse or doctor.
  2. Given that check-in luggage can sometime get lost or damaged it may be better to carry your medicines in your hand luggage.
  3. Some patients may need to inject their medications. If this applies to you then it is important to have your GP write a letter that confirms this. Please be sure to keep this letter with your medicines.
