Diabetes – How to check whether you have type 2 Diabetes
How to check whether you have type 2 Diabetes
Because the signs and symptoms of the earlier stages of type 2 diabetes can be missed, diabetics only get diagnosed by chance when their doctor gets results back from a blood or urine test for another purpose.
Ideally, we would like to empower you to recognise warning signs that might indicate type 2 diabetes. the doctor can then carry out proper tests to either confirm or rule out diabetes. your doctor will generally do three things:
- Ask you about your symptoms.
- Carry out a urine check and send your blood sample so that the glucose levels can be measured. The blood test results are normally back with the doctor within one to two days.
- If a person has diabetes they will be asked to visit their GP to discuss the test results and then decide on an action plan to keep the patient well.
