COPD – Treating COPD
COPD – Treating COPD
Unfortunately lung damage caused by COPD is not reversible. This is why I mentioned earlier that being aware of the Signs of COPD is important especially if a person smoke. Diagnosis can allow or doctors to prescribe treatments that can slow the progression of the disease. Other treatments involve making important lifestyle changes.
COPD treatments include;
- Quitting smoking. Given the association between smoking and COPD it makes sense to stop smoking
- Taking prescribed inhalers and medicines to facilitate easier breathing
- Undergoing a programme of exercise education called pulmonary rehabilitation
- If appropriate undergoing surgery or a lung transplant
