Asthma – Occupational Asthma

As I discussed in an earlier section occupational asthma is asthma that my have developed during the course of a particular employment or job.
Although some jobs carry an increased risk of developing occupational asthma there is still a responsibility on the employer to best minimise risk to their employees. If you relise that either you develop asthma or your pre-existing asthma condition is exacerbated or worsened by your job, your employer may consider a number of steps or actions to protect you. These my include
1) Remove or replace the substance that triggers the asthma
2) Offer the person an alternative role in the company that does not expose them to the asthma trigger
3) Give the person protective breathing equipment
